Our words can build others up or tear them down – sometimes without our knowledge.
Can you remember words that have been spoken to you that built you up?
How did you feel when those words were spoken?
How do you feel now remembering them?
Likewise, can you remember times when harsh words were spoken to you?
Did you feel crushed by their weight? How do you feel now remembering them?
Consideration......
Have you been intentionally working to build up those around you, or have you thoughtlessly allowed destructive words to come out?
God has given us two ears, but one tongue, to show that we should be swift to hear, but slow to speak.
God has set a double fence before the tongue, the teeth and the lips, to teach us to be wary that we offend not with our tongue.
Tame your tongue.
Build others up with every word that you speak..!
"With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be."
James 3:9-10
