"2nd Mile Giving" ...The Power of Sacrifice.......

"Second Mile Giving" is a 'tag' given, due to the inspiring story of a young boy who was forced to carry the load of a Roman soldier for one mile.
The boy goes above and beyond the call of duty and decides to go the "Second Mile" with the soldier, i.e. The coined phrase : "2nd Mile Giving & Living"
"Give, and you will receive. You will be given much. The way you give to others is the way God will give to you" (Luke 6:38 NCV).
Gifts come in all shapes and sizes and are given for many different reasons....
A gift may be given for a celebration, sometimes as an obligation and occasionally for the purpose of manipulation.
But the "2nd Mile way of Giving"  is a gift of generosity that is above and beyond all others, because it is a gift of 'imitation' (of Jesus)
It is a choice to give like God gives - lovingly, willingly, sacrificially..!

We give a gift of ourselves...both in our attitude and actions.
We make a choice to give more than we have to without expecting anything in return, choosing to follow the higher law of kindness, generosity and love. Mother Teresa said,
"It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving."

A Girl who put it to practice, recently said:
"It really worked!!!
She had problems getting along with her parents, especially her mother, and had even left home at one point.
She was back living with them again, but the relationship was still strained as she pushed every boundary and resented the chores she was required to do.
One evening when asked to load and unload the dishwasher, a task she especially disliked, she decided to try going the "2nd Mile"

Instead of her usual grumbling and complaining, she did it cheerfully, without a word of complaint.
Then she went even further and cleaned the whole kitchen, making it sparkle by polishing the sink and appliances.
She said it transformed the job she usually hated doing, and she "actually had fun" planning and anticipating her mother's surprise at this unusual gift.
Consideration:
By choosing to do more than was expected of her, she opened the door to experience the joy of "2nd Mile-Living".

She gave a gift of herself...not because she felt like it, -but because she made a conscious decision to follow a higher law in obedience to Christ....

Shalom
