Prayer ...

A traveler in the East who visited a temple on a feast day, joining many pilgrims in gathering around a sacred shrine.
He noticed that many of them were pulling out strips of paper, rolling them in mud, and tossing them at the idol.
When he asked what they were doing, he was told that the pieces of paper were written prayers.
They believed that if the mud-wrapped paper stuck to the idol, it would serve as a promise that the prayer would be answered.
If it fell off, it meant the prayer had been rejected.
Consideration....

There’s no easy way to know how God will respond to our prayers.
But would we really want there to be?
We grow through prayer and communing with God through His Word and connections with fellow believers.
If we interacted with God through anything but personal means, would that experience be as rich and engaging?
God is listening......

And if we pay attention, we will hear Him speak back, even if our prayers aren’t immediately answered.

In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart.

Shalom
