CHOOSE SUCCESS........ CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS..Ps.1

I recently heard this interesting story about a small coastal town .....

The area is renowned for its pelicans – probably because of the numerous fish factories it once had next to the seashore. The fishermen of the town use to clean the fish they caught on the shore and the pelicans therefore daily lived like kings.

As time passed the fish supply along the coast became less and less.
Although pelicans are natural fishers, they now had a problem.
Because the pelicans did not work for their food, they became fat and lazy.
The nature conservators realized that if they didn’t help the birds, they would starve to death.

One of the conservators came up with a plan: They should import pelicans from a different area (who was use to fishing) to teach the local pelicans how to fish.
They did exactly that.
The new pelicans barely arrived when they started fishing.
Following their example the old pelicans quickly joined their new neighbours – and the problem was solved!

With what type of people do you spend most of your time?
Is it your negative colleague who is constantly complaining?
Is it that friend who just “can’t help herself”, she needs to gossip?
Or maybe it’s that friend who’s always the life of the party, but can’t be faithful to his wife?

Do you realize that the people you spend your time with will influence you – whether it is good or bad?

The Psalmist understood this. Listen to his words in Psalm 1:1:
“Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers. But they delight in doing everything the Lord wants; day and night they think about his law.”

Take a moment and think about the people with whom you spend most of your time with.... Do these people motivate and inspire you (like the imported pelicans in the small coastal)?
.....Or do these people starve you and allow you to stagnate in the same way as the lazy and pelicans?
Choose today to purposefully spend your time with successful people – people who can teach you how to fish!

Father God.....
Thank you that I may have the privilege of friendships.
Please help me to choose the right friends with whom I can expand my own potential for You. .......
I pray this in the Name of Jesus Christ.
