Overwhelmed by grief, a person might struggle to come to terms with the 'person that caused' the grief.....
Some people never seem to 'cross the bridge' & are unable to forgive, (to their own detriment...)
Forgiveness is an intensely personal struggle....
There are some things that go tóó deep for us (as human-beings) to be able to forgive.
Some experiences (like being disposed of) that never heal out of a human perspective & the last thing such a person feels like hearing are well-meant pleas that forgiveness must be given.
Unless you have 'walk in the moccasins yourself 'knee-deep'', you have NO idea of the feelings midst of the ordeal & the pain of grief thereafter & the utter despair of the remains that one is to deal with......
When it comes to urging people to forgive there is a time to be silent & a time to speak; & it requires great wisdom to know when & what to speak .
Who are 'authorized' to speak into that tormented person's life that are humanly unable to forgive ?
Must we let him /her be & allow him/her to destroy themselves in the bloody cycle of hatred & revenge ?
Or is their another way; & if so who is able to show us that way ?
The truth is, -that it is very difficult , (some will say impossible), to forgive from the heart someone who has injured you & who shows no sign of sorrow or repentance.
Humanly on your own, & without Godly intervention, -forgiveness is impossible!
On Jesus....was poured
- the bile of human hatred;
- the contempt of law;
- the misrule of injustice.
But, what was His' cry? 'Father........Please Forgive ? '
Forgiveness in the face of such inhumanity ?
Grace, to such depravity ?
Kindness, to such cruelty?
I, am unable to 'humanly' understand it, but, until I have experienced the Love that drew forth such a cry; until the Saviour of the world has taken my broken heart & shattered dreams & hopes & aspirations (with my dear wife & wonderful children,) & gently melted the the ice that was settled on my soul, I remained in darkness......
It is NOT to the 'demand to forgive', that the heart will thaw, -but ONLY to the Love, the unconditional Love experienced in the enfolding Love of the risen Christ !
Forgiveness is a Gift ( from Above).
A 'rare' Gift that draws us towards Jesus.....
It doesn't always happen overnight; but, as we open ourselves to the gentle Ministry of Jesus' flowing from Calvary......... so we begin to experience His 'Freeing Power' (on a daily basis)... !
Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. Col.3:13
Everyone claims that forgiveness is a wonderful idea until there is someone they themselves have to forgive.....
When I rose this morning, I chose peace to accompany
me to work.
Today I will forgive those who have wronged me - I will set them free so that I may live.
If you do not forgive those who have wronged you,
God cannot forgive you!
Work with devotion today,
leave your worries with Jesus, and enjoy His peace!
